Product of Neglect started it's life on new years eve in 2019, with Pierce and Greg, playing some guitar at Now-Vocalist Brandon's house over some drinks, One song was written that night, whether it sees the light of day one day, no one knows. Not too long after that, Brandon wanted to jump on-board, so we got him some double kicks and borrowed an old drum kit, and the first version of PoN was born, a few months down the road Brandon decided drums weren't from him and he wanted to perform vocals for the band, and did he ever go hard at it, Brandon came home sounding like he'd smoked since he was still in the womb, but one day it just clicked for him. around 3 months after that, with some generic Metalcore banger covers, and some guitar-pro trash tier songs down, we decided we still needed a drummer, so Pierce messaged Chris. They had met a few years back at one of Brandon's brother's house parties, Chris was instantly on-board and the four got to jamming and writing some music.
A year later Pierce met Jayden at his workplace, and they became great friends. Pierce offered him a spot in the band and he accepted, the next year or so was full of bouncing ideas and riffs off each other, and doing a bunch of demos, but nothing really came of it for quite a while, until July of 2022 when Perpetual Night was released, originally entitled "Perpetual Night, Lonely Moon" was a song about the anime "Demon Slayer", Jayden came to us with the lyrics, which we really liked, but Brandon also presented lyrics based on the "Hellraiser" series which were amazing as well, so the two sets of lyrics ended up being collated into one song. The track had great reception gaining over 1000 listens in under 9 months, so we decided to do some more demo's and write a few more tracks.
New years has always been a day / night full of events for Product of Neglect, but unfortunately on new years eve 2022, Jayden had messaged the band chat to announce he was stepping down from PoN to join another local band. The split was amicable, and the guys still remain friends till this day, but this didn't slow down the progress of the vision we had, with only two months later, the follow up single entitled "Cerberus" on February 1, 2023 was unleashed on the world, to even better reception than the first track with almost 2000 streams in it's first 9 months. This lit the fire beneath us to get more music to the world!
The plan for our music was originally to release two EP's over a 9 month period, however we decided it wouldn't do the music justice, as we wanted the music to tell the story of how we got to where we are at this point in time, and i think this album sums it up perfectly, Love, Hate, Conflict, Abandonment, Neglect...
"Synthetic Freedom" is a reflection on the world we currently live in, whether it be issues currently happening around the world such as: Dealing with depression, being judged and ridiculed, or losing the ones we love, everyone goes through these things. They are an unavoidable part of life, and people deal with them in different ways. This album is the collaboration of 4 very different people, who came together for one reason; To make amazing music that moves people whether it be emotionally or in the pit.
We still stand by this, life can be difficult, even be unbearable at points, We all go through these things, Arguments, Disagreements, but at the end of the day, you know who your friends are and who you can rely on, and that's all that matters.
It's not about the destination, but the journey that makes us who we are - Brandon Haase
2024 Ended with a bang, more shows, including Hollowfest, but also a new song, entitled "Rituals" which had an accompanying music video, the video was a real eye-opener for the band, but also a new experience.
Rituals was Product of Neglect’s sound perfected, they knew what they wanted, and it showed. With the addition of producer Tom Cadden (Body Prison, Ex To The Grave) Rituals had that pumping sound that the band had been searching for!
Rituals has garnered over 8000 streams on Spotify and over 15000 views on YouTube as of Feburary 2025.
